Frequently Asked Questions

We operate on a Direct Care model and do not bill insurance companies directly. Instead, we offer transparent pricing and provide patients with a detailed superbill that they may submit to their insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on each patient’s individual plan. Many patients may also use HSA or FSA funds for medical visits after confirming eligibility with their plan provider. This model allows Dr. Asempa to spend more time providing personalized, high-quality care.

Care is provided through a secure virtual platform. Before your appointment, you will complete a detailed questionnaire about your symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals. You will also receive guidance on taking high-quality clinical photographs.

If you are seeking care for hair loss, you will be mailed a dermatoscope: a small device that connects to your smartphone and captures magnified, microscopic images of your hair and scalp. These images, along with your questionnaire, allow Dr. Asempa to carefully evaluate your condition before the visit.

Because much of the initial information is reviewed in advance, your appointment can focus on explaining your diagnosis, answering your questions, and working together to develop a personalized treatment plan.

We are currently accepting patients located in 9 states, with active licensing and registration underway in many additional states. You must be physically present in one of our active states during your virtual visit to receive care. Actively expanding nationwide, so check back for your state shortly!

Current availability: Connecticut, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas.

We request payment at the time of online appointment booking. We accept all major credit cards, FSA, and HSA.

We are only accepting patients age 14 and older at this time. If you book a visit for your child aged 14-17, please note that a parent or guardian MUST be physically present during the visit.

Please note, we are only accepting patients age 14 and older at this time.

Yes. Some conditions require in-person evaluation or treatment.

For your safety, Align Dermatology does not perform virtual spot checks, mole checks or full-body skin cancer screenings. Any new, changing, painful, or bleeding growth should be evaluated in person and may require a biopsy.

Any severe full-body rashes, blistering disorders, rashes involving the eye, mouth or genitals, or rapidly worsening facial swelling, hives, and/or throat swelling MUST be examined in-person can cannot be evaluated through Align Dermatology.

Certain types of hair loss may also require a scalp biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. In some cases, patients may benefit from scalp injections or additional in-office procedures. Dr. Asempa will review your photographs, dermatoscopic images, questionnaire, and symptoms and will let you know whether your condition can continue to be managed through virtual care or whether in-person evaluation or treatment is recommended. When in-person care is needed, she will help refer you to a trusted dermatologist as close to your location as possible.

Your scheduled time is exclusively reserved for your care. When an appointment is missed or cancelled at the last minute, it prevents other patients from receiving the attention they need.

  • Rescheduling: You may reschedule or modify your appointment at no additional cost, provided the request is made at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Cancellations & No-Shows: Cancellations and missed appointments (no-shows) are non-refundable.

  • Late Arrivals: If you arrive late, your session will conclude at the originally scheduled time to remain fair to subsequent patients. You will be responsible for the full appointment fee regardless of the shortened duration.
